SUBJECT : LAPORAN POLIS

My Kuala Lumpur friends and I had a horrific experience at the beach next to Park Royal hotel, Penang, on 10/02/08 at about 5 pm. We brought our dogs to that particular stretch of beach just in front of Sunset Café. There were many foreign tourists drinking beer and eating at the café. While I was walking toward the sea with my dog, a bottle flew pass missing me by a few inches. Immediately after that, a group of illegal parasailing operators shouted at me demanding that I take my dog and leave the beach. One of the tourists at the café requested that they (illegal parasailing operators) should be the ones leaving the place. The illegal parasailing operators then demanded RM5,000 from the tourist if they were to leave the place.

This ugly incidence has painted a bad picture about Penang to the many foreign tourists and my KL friends there. Such gangster act against dog lovers cannot be tolerated. We hope the relevant Authorities do not turn a blind eye on this matter. They cannot continue with their illegal activities and act as if they own the beaches of Penang.

Yours truly,

SAM NG

Dreamcatcher

Tovik & KizzyI blame Jack London. As a child I was an obsessive reader and at the age of 11 or 12, I came across Jack London. I started with "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang" and went on to read through most of his novels. As a result, I was hooked on the idea of the "frozen north" and having my own team of sled dogs battling through blizzards and living on what I could trap (Bit of a strange fantasy for a boy living in the urban wastes of Slough not far from London UK).
